Sexual disorders like erectile dysfunction are increasing among Indian men and such problems are greater among BPO professionals, sexologist Prakash Kothari said on Friday.
This will be one of the topics to be discussed at the two -day international sexology conference beginning here on Saturday, he told reporters.
Changes in food habits of BPO employees, especially the intake of more refined carbohydrates mostly at unusual hours, was resulting in sexual disorders among them. This affected their health and physical activities, he said.
Another factor causing sexual problems among BPO employees was stress due to work pressure and lack of time to relax, an issue which would be discussed in detail at the conference, he said.
T Kamaraj of the Indian Institute of Sexual Medicine, which is organising the meet, said about three crore Indian men were estimated to have erectile dysfunction. This is due to the increasing prevalence of diabetes.
Kamaraj said the conference would focus on sexual dysfunctions, disorders and infertility. There will also be discussions on removing misconceptions about sex and educating people to live a sexually healthy and happy life.
Treatment of sexually transmitted diseases will also be discussed. Jayarani, a sexologist, said increasing divorce, psycho- sexual aspects of women, female sexual problems and marital problems will also be taken up at the meet.
